Optimization Media

This mode is use to create empty space inside the geometrical models to limit the use of material when printing 3D surfaces.

To prevent the model from being to fragile, you can fill out the interior chambers with a structure that will add to the model's rigidity.

The hollowed section are created by marking the appropriate voxels with the "Optimizer" tag. These voxels are then considered empty when we do the shell reconstruction.

Note:

In these images, we used clip planes (Mode ROI) to show the interior of the volume.

Optimizer Mode

You can select the hollowing mode.

OFF

All the "Optimizer" flags are removed from the volume, in effect turning this option off.

Empty

Hollow the models, only leaving an exterior shell of "Exterior shell thickness" voxels.

Chambers

The interior of the hollowed sections is filled with orthogonal walls.  The walls are "Support thickness" voxel thick and are spaced every "Structure size" voxels.

Frame

The interior of the hollowed sections is filled with orthogonal beams.  The beams are "Support thickness" voxel thick and are spaced every "Structure size" voxels.

Shell Thickness

thickness of the exterior shell.

Structure Size

Number of voxels in the frame/beam matrix

Support Thickness

Thickness of the frame walls or of the beams.
