If this class is placed in the DB tree, there will be one instance of this class per acquisition.

 

It is usually placed immediately after the series class and is used to differentiate between the series. It is more general than the DICOM Tree class with the tag (0020,0012) (acquisition number) since it can differentiate between acquisitions of non-DICOM files.
