2.          Intermuscular adipose tissue (IMAT) analysis

 

·IMAT is adipose tissue found between and within the muscle groups (Kim et al 2005)

oIMAT can be thought of as being an extension of skeletal muscle (TAG 2 Green, -190 to -30)

oAnywhere where muscle should be or likely was previously present should be tagged as IMAT

oIMAT can be thought of as a seal between the SAT and the VAT so they do not come into contact with each other
